A card payment fee applies when using VISA or Mastercard.

* A reissue is when you need to reapply for a licence or permit after a cancellation period or if you've been unlicensed for a period of 6 months or more. If you haven't held a licence for more than five years, you will need to be re-tested.

# Probationary licence new issue fee is waived under the Motorist's Benefit Package and Safe Drive Discount.

The Safe Driver Discount

Car, motorcycle, and heavy vehicle licence holders of all ages who haven't incurred demerit points or committed other road safety offences for three years prior to their licence renewal may be eligible to receive a 25 per cent discount on their next renewal as part of the Motorist Package and Safe Driver Discount.

* To change your appointment, you’ll need to pay another appointment fee, but not a new test fee. The appointment fees charged (for making or changing an appointment) seek to recovery VicRoads’ minimum costs for providing this service.

  • Motorcycle learner permit from automatic to manual
  • Heavy vehicle licence from automatic to manual, automatic to synchromesh, and synchromesh to manual

How to pay for renewal and replacement licences

  • at a VicRoads Customer Service Centre **
  • at a Licence Photo Point [PDF 78Kb] (if you need a new photo taken)
  • BPAY (if you don't need a new photo, your renewal notice will have the biller code and reference number)
  • sending a cheque payment by mail to:
